Bruce Farman
Stockmaker

Bruce’s interest in firearms began when he was about eight years when he was allowed to shoot a friend of his father’s Model 63 Winchester. This interest continued during his development as a Competitive Smallbore Shooter in the early 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s. His first rifles were muzzleloaders built for him to compete in local black power matches. This led to building rifles for friends and projects just continued to grow.

Bruce has an Associate Degree in both Technical and Liberal Arts and completed a four year apprenticeship in Marine Pipefitting. He is currently retired from the Department of the Navy, having completed 37 years of building, repairing and supervising the overhaul of naval ships.
His stockmaking skills are self-taught, but were influenced by the stock designs of master gunmakers Goens, Fisher, Biesen and Brownell. Rifle and shotgun stocks are built in the classic style in his Bremerton, Washington shop. In addition to stockmaking, Farman also completes the metalfinishing using the traditional rust bluing process.
