Type: Independent Contractor. Part-time. Approximately 20 hours per week. This is a one-person position. There are no other staff members.
Location: This position will provide the association’s central office.
Preferred Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience to include nonprofit association knowledge (accounting, legal, and tax ramifications ), computer and office skills, good communication and writing skills, and marketing and nonprofit accounting experience.
Computer skills: email, word processing, database management, desktop publishing, website. Program experience: Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, MyMailList, Excel, OuarkXpress, Photoshop, Quickbooks Pro
Compensation: $2,200 – $2,500 per month

About: The American Custom Gunmakers Guild (ACGG) is a non-profit trade association of individual artisans who are actively engaged in the profession of custom gunmaking plus associate members who support their efforts. The purposes of the organization include: the exchange of ideas, views, techniques, the promotion of public interest and awareness; and advancement of and betterment of the profession.
Job Description:
A non-profit National Trade Association seeks an Executive Director to serve as a part-time independent-contractor. The Executive Director recommends and participates in the formulation of the association’s mission, policies, procedures, and programs. Administers and directs programs approved by the Board of Directors. Organizes and coordinates committee volunteers as well as oversees all association programs and events. Maintains the association’s central office.
Responsibility Areas:
Administrative
General oversight of all association administrative needs including correspondence and membership.
Coordinate arrangements needed including agreements with printers, accountants, and other service providers or professionals.
Provide assistance to committees as needed.
Maintain inventory of association merchandise and fulfill orders.
Monitor relevant legal, insurance, and tax issues.
Maintain records per the ACGG’s Document Retention and Destruction Policy.
Executive Committee (BOD & Officers)
Assist the Executive Committee in fulfilling its responsibility to set policy and conduct its business for the association as requested.
Make arrangements for meetings, prepare notices and agendas for review by the president, and review minutes of all meetings with the secretary prior to distribution.
Assist the president with specific initiates.
Non-voting member of the Executive Committee and other committees.
Financial
Coordinate directly with the treasurer on all financial issues.
Maintain general ledger: deposit all monies and pay bills timely.
Prepare invoices and renewals.
Prepare financial reports for review: quarterly to treasurer and president.
Work with accountant, prepare records for tax preparation, and file sales tax and business reports.
Publications
Work with editor and contributors on content for newsletter.
Write association content for inclusion in newsletter.
Coordinate advertising in association publications with advertisers.
Coordinate with printers and graphic designer on all publications.
Review and proof all publications.
Website
Update content on website or refer to webmaster for changes.
Work with webmaster on any website store issues or design changes needed.
Guild Firearms Projects/Raffles
Coordinate with makers and chairman for publicity information, fair market value, display of projects at events etc.
Arrange press releases.
Update website information on project.
Process raffle ticket requests.
Compile separate financial report.
Meetings and Events
Work with hotels, facilities and other organizations to arrange association meetings and events.
Coordinate exhibitors and arrangements for displays or events.
Manage promotion of all meetings and events.
